Direct Financial Assistance Program
Golden Rainbow’s Direct Financial Assistance Program assists with
emergency short-term needs and limited assistance for eligible clients in
order to provide and maintain an adequate living environment and medical
care. This includes financial assistance to prevent eviction, termination of
utility services and essential medical costs not covered by insurance.
Affordable Housing Program
Golden Rainbow’s Affordable Housing Program is currently the only
permanent housing program designed for people living with HIV/AIDS in
Southern Nevada. We provide housing to those affected by HIV/AIDS in
Clark County, Nevada, who would otherwise have no place to call home.
Our affordable housing program currently consists of 8 apartments and a
three-bedroom home, providing housing and all utilities for a small monthly
rent payment. The units are affordable and designed to be a place where our
residents can feel at home, maintain medical care and live a normal life.
Education – Southern Nevada Area Health Education Center
According to the Centers for Disease Control, half of all reported HIV infections last year were people under the age of 25.
More that half of them were girls age 13-19. In the light, Golden Rainbow is proud to fund SLICK, and HIV/AIDS education
program presented by the Southern Nevada Area Health Education Center.
SLICK (Sexuality Lessons Including Cool Knowledge)
SLICK takes on a skill-building approach to reach adolescents ages 10-14 and 15-17. The program is designed to educate as
well as discuss sexuality issues to cover abstinence, teen pregnancy, STI’s, HIV/AIDS and teach risk education skills such as
contraception, recognizing healthy and unhealthy relationships, and incorporates hands-on activities. Upon completion of the
SLICK program, adolescents learn that the choices they make today will affect their tomorrow.
“Back to School” Program
This program is collaboration with Father Joseph O’Brien at the Saint Therese Center in Henderson, Nevada. This program
provides low-income children K-12 grades, who have are infected /affected with HIV/AIDS with school backpacks filled with
school supplies and gift certificates for back to school clothes.
"THINK" Campaign
This is an education program provided in cooperation with Aid for AIDS of Nevada (AFAN), Golden Rainbow and the Clark
County Health District. Designed to bring awareness to a continuing public health crisis, the "THINK" campaign will
run on local radio and in local print publications to inspire audiences to THINK about HIV and the lives behind the statistics
HIV/AIDS remains a health crisis and is a global issue that needs to be addressed. A series of powerful messages in print and broadcast
media will focus on statistics and educating people to THINK about their actions. The focus of the THINK campaign is to highlight the
shocking statistics that affect all of us, and make people stop and "THINK" about their actions and the consequences that come with
actions like unprotected sex and drug use.
