$1 Million capital campaign

To Reimagine Golden Rainbow's

Plan of the future

Our plan will transform the delivery of housing and services for Southern Nevada people living with HIV/AIDS. In this new era of disease management, the housing needs of people with HIV/AIDS has evolved. Instead of a last place to call home, our clients need a midpoint for managing their disease and a stepping stone for re-entering society.

The local entertainment community’s generous support enabled us to purchase apartment

buildings in Las Vegas to provide shelter for people in need.

At one time these buildings were a safety net in the darkest days of the epidemic.

Many people stayed only a few weeks or months.

Very few stayed longer than a year.

People living with HIV/AIDS today are at different places in their journey.  Many work and pay rent, others are at various stages of independence with occasional need for support. Some are just looking for a temporary place to call home after disability leave or hospitalization.

Fortunately, advances in medical treatments are providing positive results and prolonging lives. A large number of those we serve have chronic medical conditions due to their long-term AIDS diagnosis. Frequent or sudden illness, unexpected medical bills or a job loss can have devastating financial consequences.

Today's average Golden Rainbow client is one paycheck away from homelessness.

Last year, the Nevada Department of Transportation took ownership of two of Our

buildings through eminent domain for the Project NEON freeway expansion.

With the financial settlement we received we are taking this opportunity

to reimagine Golden Rainbow's housing plan of the future.

Golden Rainbow is in negotiations to purchase a multi-unit residential building near

downtown Las Vegas. This new building will replace the housing units we lost to eminent domain.

When completed, it will provide shelter for up to 24 people and include on-site access to mental health

and other support services to help clients maintain their health as they rebuild their lives.

The lack of affordable housing in Las Vegas is a barrier for many clients to maintain their treatment regimens.

Putting themselves and the community at risk.

Golden Rainbow has a waiting list of over 70 individuals/families with HIV/AIDS looking for a place to live.

Many clients are living in weekly hotels or shelters.

Some are living on the streets.

While we already have over one-half of the

$1 million necessary to fully fund this project, We still need

the support of the entire community to reach our goal.

For over 30 years Golden Rainbow has been

a source of tremendous support

for people living with HIV/AIDS In Southern Nevada.

HELP US CONTINUE THE IMPORTANT WORK WE DO.

UNTIL THERE’S A CURE, THERE’S GOLDEN RAINBOW.
